| i like the rims on the car, but it's not for me. if some people didnt brake outside the box we wouldnt have diversity with our cars. Cars then would be boring! And the same. | |

| Well 70's cars don't look too bad on the smaller donks. Not my style but it's an improvement over what the cars looked like stock. | |

| I don't care what denomination that owner is... it just looks awful. Of course, opinions on looks are entirely subjective so what might look terrible to me might look incredible to someone else... | |

| Subject: rear wheels rub when running bigger rims/tires Sat May 09, 2009 1:03 am | |
| I was wondering to anyone that has 19" or bigger rims do you ever hit the fender when going over a big bump or taking a really tight turn? I mean in the rear anyway. I think ewolfe might have had a problem with this. anyway would new shocks remedy this? mine are original so im gonna replace them. advice? | |

That all depends on the offset, width, and tire size you are using.

| yep... just be sure the ofset of the rims dos not make the wheels stick out of fender. and the diameter of the wheels should stay close to the factory size. but have to say....its a big diference on 16-18-20''... driving whit stock rims(16'') was like flouding on clouds....just a smooth ride even when the rod was a bit bad. whit the 18'' i have 245/45tyres...its a bit raff sometimes on bad rods. feel every bump....but way better handeling and feel on turns and braking.
which the sawbars could be stiffer...hope one day i can find some sts sawbars..or how ever they where called and a sturbar tho...should make some big changes for handeling.

| I have all the photos of my car on my showroom page, ill take some more though and post them on here for ya, its actually hyperblack, didn't want to go all out black even though its pretty close. Do you have any rub on the back wheels when "big" people ride in your car? can you roll the fenders at all? | |

| I did have a little rubbing at first. Made some 1/2" spacers which cured it until the Riv went on a diet (probably 250-300lbs when prepped for the drag strip) then removed them because it looked a little tail high. Over big bumps or really agressive cornering they started rubbing a bit so I just cut the inner lip off about 1/4" or less and problem solved. They don't rub at all regardless of how much weight I have in it or how hard I thrash it. Didn't want to roll the fenders because I wanted to keep the stock wheel well trim. I will try to locate your showroom page. Good looking car... | |

| Subject: 20" Rims from a crown vic fit the rivi?? Tue May 19, 2009 7:05 am | |
| http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/pts/1175707328.html
The vics have the 5X114.3. bolt pattern and the stock wheel is a 54mm offset so i was wondering would that high an offset make the rims stick out or wut? and thats assuming these are a proper offset for the car. Thanks!

| 5x114.3 will "fit" but not well. our bolt patter is 5x115, and most wheels have large enough lug holes that .7 difference will still fit. however it is not recommended b/c some people have vibration and balance problems. +54 offset will most likely rub pretty bad during turns. the wheel/tires shouldnt stick out.(you would need to go closer to 0 offset to make that happen) i believe the 12 spoke offset is like +34, where do you see the offset of those rims? _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | I think the offset on my wheels are -44 and they are just about flush with the fenderwells. The tires 240/35/20 will look like really small rubberbands on those wheels. I run 255/35/20 (255cm from lip to lip with 35% sidewall) and they are fairly small. I run 5x114.5 (or .3) and haven't had any issues other than the ocassionally sheared off lug when I take it to a tire shop and they use their impacts to tighten. You will need to tighten them in steps so the rim seats fine on the hub... usually tighten them on the lift until tire turns, let it down and tighten them about 75%, then again around the pattern at 100ft/lbs... | |
