| Would these rims fit on the Rivi?
http://biggwheels.com/POPUPS/ABYSSPOP.htm
The Reason why I ask is because I'm going to get them from my friend for $900..........thats if they fit, but I thought I'll ask on here first.............And the car there comming off of is a 2004 Dodge Intrepid.............

| that link supplies no information re: fitment. I would try them on because intrepids used a 5x114 bolt pattern, whereas the riv uses 5x115.
FWIW, I have used steel wheels from a dodge (5x114) on a GM (5x115).

| Whoa! Hold up, it depends on the offset. The riv has a 30 offset, not sure if it's + or - though. Camaros are 5X114 and I know they won't fit. Be careful, I had some rims bolt up just fine but when I jumped on the highway I thought the car was going to shake apart. I had to replace 18 of my 20 wheel studs and I only drove about a mile up the road. | |

| Rims that are 5x114.3 will fit bolt pattern 5x115. You only have to worry about offset.. | |

| I didn't say the wheel will fit with no problem. I said there is practically no information about the wheels and that you should try them before purchasing them. Check out the wheel calculator in the suspension subsection | |

| 900$ for rims from an intrepid seems high. check out your local craigslist.org or ebay. You can find a better deal. | |

| They aren't intrepid rims they are aftermarket rims on an intrepid. I believe he wanted 20s so $900 for 20" rims and tires aren't bad if they are in decent shape. Considering something like that new goes for about $2,000+ depending on the rim. Having them fit is the harder part. | |

Having them fit is the harder part. Exactly.........He only had them for a year..........and yes I am going to try them on and drive on them for a bit to see how it feels before I purchase them...........

| What makes a rim fwd or rwd? I mean surely if it can support 1000 lbs of car plus force changes through bumps and curves it can handle the comparitively puny torque forces from the engine. | |

| AFAIK the offset determins if it is for FWD or RWD applications. those are made for FWD cars so it should work if the bolt pattern works. 5x114.7 will fit the 5x115 on our cars, but you may have a slight ballancing issue or vibration. hubcentric rings may help also. look at wheels on say, a BMW 7 series or high end wheels for RWD cars like lamborghini's (Gallardo that is, the Murcielago is AWD ) you will see the hub bolts up almost in the center of the wheel so it has close to 0 offset. our wheels bolt up at almost flush with the lip so it has a high offset +34 i think. (for the 12 spokes IIRC, and the 12 spokes are .5" wider than the other wheels for the riv) you can change the offset slightly, but be careful of clearance. btw a quick search pulled up some pages with good info on wheels. http://www.1010tires.com/tech.asp?type=wheels _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | I'm no expert, but FWD rims typically have a positive offset, while RWD rims have a negative offset. | |

| Hubcentric Rings?
This helps so the wheel won't vibrate?
because I don't want to put them on and they mess up my studs.......

| Many different offsets fit many different cars. I believe my 20's are a +20 offset. I have also put 20" rims off of my buddy's RWD comaro and they fit on my Buick Lesabre no problem. | |

| Hey everybody, I'm looking into getting some new tires for my Riv. Now my question to you (whoever is listening) is..... My Riv is a 97 and comes with the chrome rims which are 6.5" wide, I'd like to keep the original rims, but go with a wider tire and still stay as close to the original total diameter of the factory spec tires. Now because the rims are 6.5" wide, is it a big deal if I go with tires rated for a 7" rim? Will they blow-up on me or fall off the rims or something? I'd like to go with a 245/55R16, but I'm not sure if I can because they are rated for a 7" rim. The stock tires are 225/60R16 which give me 8.85" of width, if I buy the 245/55R16 they will give me 9.64 of width, but maintain the same overall diameter. What are your thoughts, of course keeping in mind that I don't want to switch out my rims, I want to keep the factory rims. Thanks PS: I just found out that depending on the tire manufacturer, tires are rated for different widths so my next question would be how thick can I go before I get interference problem with anything in the wheel well. | |

| there is a sticky about tires in the suspension and handling section.
your tire won't blow up or fall off. You may find that it bulges (i.e. looks too big for the wheel) and if you eventually have problems with your tires, expect the manufacturer to say you weren't supposed to use it.
245/55-16 isn't a common size. I don't know who makes it, but you may be better off with a narrower, but better quality tire. Personally, I would use a 245 tire.

The chrome rims are 6.5" and the others, like yours, are 7" wide. Mine are chrome (6.5")
