| hi i have a 1997 series 2 in my 95 riv ( swppaed motors) however my ses light is on so i go to autozone and they couldnt read the computer. i was told by two autozones and a member on here that the pcm probably wasnt changed over when i swapped motors, hence the reason why it wont read on the scanner. anyone know how to access the pcm, and also, i found an alternate on ebay for grand prix, lesabres etc that have series 2 motors, can i use one of these computers or do i have to have the same year computer as the cars motor? | |

| There are a few different ways to go about it.
You could find a place with a scanner that will read both OBD 1 and 2. I think the actron 9145 reads both.
You can try to change the pcm and wiring. This might be a major undertaking with the pcm being inside the passenger compartment.
You could probably use a different wiring harness that has the pcm in the engine bay and feed only the necessary wires into the cabin. | |
