PostSubject: Re: Transmission Shutter   Transmission Shutter - Page 3 EmptyTue Oct 17, 2017 4:05 pm

What Transmission is in a 95 riviera with the supercharger? My Transmission went out and im looking for a replacement. From what i understand they say that there was two different transmission and there is 3 different ones in 95. The 4t60e then the 4t60e with M13 opt. and the 4t60e-HD. So which one is it?

4T60e-HD should be what you need for the 95 s/c riv. Some say the HD wasnt introduced until 97 with the 65e, but i dont see how the 95/96 can handle the tq if the dif wasnt HD.

No I don't believe so. You need a vac controlled 4t60

It the 4T60E-HD didn't, hence the 4T65e. If you do a web search you should still find some of the old articles talking about that.

Transmission Shutter - Page 3 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Transmission Shutter   Transmission Shutter - Page 3 EmptyFri Oct 27, 2017 2:27 pm

Last week i got into an accident in the riv. Lady swerved into me on highway doing 80 and sent the riv into a spin. I am ok and car didnt sustain much damage (her car is totaled as she hit 3 other cars and the wall). Will need a new bumper, corner light and some fender body work/paint.
Anyways, since then my trans has had a shutter to it. Progressively got worse and now it is super slow to shift 1-2 and will not downshift at all. Flooring it in anything but 1st and i get slip and neutral rev. Doesnt feel like any particular gear is slipping at part throttle until i get on it and it tries to apply more torque. vibration can be quite severe. Gets worse the hotter the trans gets.
OD locks up every time and stays locked. 2-3 and 3-4 are better than 1-2 shifts. Almost feels like its not enough hydraulic pressure to apply clutches.
Taking it into a shop today for diagnostics. No CEL currently on. I do have an inline filter that was changed 15k or so ago. Fluid is still pink and doenst smell burnt.

See if a ground was knocked loose. There are so many grounds in these cars, and they can create some really strange symptoms when they are faulty. Maybe the accident disabled one?

Just an update for my rivi! Got a new for and may sensor and she rides way better now.  My 3rd and 4th rumble has quieted down a lot.
