DIS-- Why do you not agree that there is a dealer installed kit? I didn't say it was factory , but its about as close to factory as you can get. I guess the reason would be that the only thing I have ever seen the dealer install, except maybe OnStar, was the Gold Package, and the only thing I know of "close to factory" are the two pieces, one around the shifter and one around the HVAC. So if it is anything more than those two pieces how can it be “close to factory”?

| So I guess BD dash kits are not recommended? How about the Sherwood kit? Doesn't have rear coverage, but the quality is better?

The stuff on the armrests is too much if you ask me. I did not use those pieces even though I had them.

I used the pieces on the front armrests; yes they were labeled on the Sherwood kit I got. I went directly to Sherwood when I got mine, but that was 10 years ago so I'm not sure where you might get the best price now?

| Even though I don't have the dough for a dash kit I would like to put one on my Christmas list. That is assuming i have tires and wheels, the N* and Gen 5, and everything else in my sig installed by then. After looking at all Y'all s dashes they are growing on me. I know I've read enough about how much of a PITA it is to install properly and I would like to have various samples to see which color would look the best.
Sherwood's site says they only sell to distributor's, not Dealers or the general public.

| He also had these chrome Cadillac Eldorado wheels. They looked very nice. The center caps have the Cadillac emblem though. | |

| I was offered a set of those wheels from an Eldorado about 6 months ago for $200.00 with a few thousand miles left on the tires but I eventually turned them down. I forget what diameter they were..but the chrome was in decent shape. I wasn't sure how they would look on the car and the Caddy engraving could not be changed unless there is some kind of Buick emblem that could be adhered over it.
Also, I hadn't heard of any dash kit mfg. that puts the lettering on? If I were to install a dash kit I would prefer the one with lettering. Can anyone confirm which mfg has the lettering.??
Never Mind; The Sherwood site says that factory type lettering is available. Now need to find a dealer and price.?????

| The SHERWOOD KIT has the lettering:This is a cropped picture from my 4MP camera so the quality isn't very good, but you can see it has the lettering. | |

| Sherwood offers 5 kits for our Riv's depending on options:
2D-0368 2D / Flat Dash Kits W/ HEATED SEAT, W/O MEMORY view 2D-0357 2D / Flat Dash Kits W/ BENCH SEAT, W/O POWER SWITCH 2D-0356 2D / Flat Dash Kits W/ HEATED SEAT, W/ MEMORY view 2D-0355 2D / Flat Dash Kits W/O HEATED SEAT AND MEMORY view 2D-0354 2D / Flat Dash Kits W/ BUCKET SEAT, W/O POWER
The last one listed comes without the armrest/switch pieces wich are listed on their diagrams as Drivers Door and Passenger Door pieces. I looked on a couple of sites and it appears that ordering without the armrest pieces saves you about $25-$35.

| Do you have a web site link that I can look at for future reference. My G/F wants the info, maybe she's planning on doing something for my B/Day coming up - 18th of Sept. I'd rather have the ZZP N* Kit right now though. | |

If you Google Sherwood dash kits, you'll get a host of places that sell the kits. Price depends on the actual kit and finish. The pictures I posted are Real Rosewood which is more expensive. Lowest price I have seen so far, for the kit I need and want (Heated Seats and memory, #0614 Rosewood) is 245.00 with free shipping. http://www.autoanything.com/dash-kits/75A4150A0A0.aspx

| LARRY70GS, Thanks for the reply. What color is your car and interior.? Just trying to determine what wood color will look best against certain interior / exterior color combination's. I have a Green exterior and a Tan interior. Rick p.s. I found the real wood Sherwood kits available at www.carid.com with free overnight shipping. I think they are higher priced than what you found though. | |

I ended up ordering that kit from www.carid.com. I talked with Chris Garcia, ext 801. I paid 260.00 with free shipping.

|
I just got back from Hemmings Musclepalooza at Englishtown Raceway Park. Dennis Kirban was there, and he had a beautiful 1997 Riviera with some kind of dash kit installed. It was one of the nicer kits that I have seen. The switches were all labeled. I believe this is the Sherwood kit in Real Rosewood I wonder if Kirban has ever cruised this board.... Nice to see he drives a Riv. If he were to decide to do some mods he could probably build a killer combo with all the connections and aftermarket parts at his disposal: http://www.kirbanperformance.com/ Bert

Bert Bert, Funny, I asked him if he had ever been to this website. He said he isn't much for internet bulletin boards. Glad I saw and chatted with him. Very nice guy, and willing to help you anyway he can. I e mailed him about the dash kit last night, and I had an answer by morning.
