I've recently gotten down to five, if I get another one right now it'll be of a '65 or so vintage.

I'd love to have a 71 Riv with the boattail.

Stay away from my boat-tail! I think that car is on a lot of lists. read

I have thought about the flat black riv. I would really like to do a flat black rat-rod but do you guys really think it could work? I go back and forth. On some days I think it would be so ghetto lookin, and other days I think it could work.

I think a 2-tone black Riv with gloss clear on the sides and matte on hood/roof/trunk would look pretty cool if done right. Matte black chrome trim, too. Maybe throw a pair of red pinstripes on, and black wheels. Could make for one mean-lookin' car.

Darn it, I wish mine needed new paint!!!

Did you ever think of shaving the side moldings? I always wondered what one would look like without them.

I hadn't really thought about shaving them but I did think about throwing some metal flake in the paint for the moldings and door handles. rock
Then I was reminded that keeping the miles down and keeping it original was my goal, so I decided against it. read

But I do have a spare '95 that I might experiment with one day. wink

Unfortunately the pictures from May 28th 2007 on page 2 of this post ARE current! I’ve been very busy for the last year and haven’t had time to get back to it! As soon as I found out I wasn’t going to be able to get it ready for last years ROA meet I pretty much have let it set. I have set aside the month of April to get it finished, hopefully that will happen and I’ll be able to get it to this years ROA meet. I’ll get pictures of it completed when I get it there. HOPEFULLY BY THE END OF MAY!

Keep in mind this paint job started in April of "LAST YEAR", so as you can tell we don't do real fast work! It should turn out very good, I hope anyway, but obviously it has been a very "SLOW" process! So if you've got a looonnnggg time to wait we might be able to work something out?!? Of course it might have to wait until I get Silver Arrow #10 repainted, I plan on taking it through the same process, if I can put up with my brother and his crap again that is!

Latest update!

Some more sanding and washing and taping, three coats of black, and three coats of clear...
Write-Up: Paint Job - Page 2 _95_pa10

Write-Up: Paint Job - Page 2 _95_pa11

Got a little trash in it but nothing that some 2000 sanding and a little buffing won't take care of.
Hope to get the rest of it painted this weekend, the hood and trunk and bumpers, and assorted other parts, then I'll have about five weeks to get it back together and cleaned up for the ROA meet in Galena!

I would have to check with my brother about the price, I know it would not be cheap!
Also, keep this in mind...

Yes, they can be very dificult to remove.
The one on the passenger side came out without too much trouble, I'm guessing it wasn't put in very well in the first place?!? The adhesive used was only holding around 25% of it.
The drivers side however was a different story! It was held in real good, by the time I got it cut out I had damaged at least 50% of the inner seal that is glued onto the body, I probably could have gotten away with reusing it but I figured I am only going to do this once so I had better do it right! So, $275 later from Monster Parts, I have a new quarter window to put in!

I'm not sure what you mean by "a better glue that does not oxidize" though?

Last update…on this thread anyway.

Got it home Memorial Day and have been working on putting it back together, I have three more days to have it ready to leave for the ROA Meet in Galena, IL and am about halfway there!
It looks like shit but I’m tired of fucking with it so I am putting it together and going to leave it alone for a while after the meet!
Write-Up: Paint Job - Page 2 Paint_11

I’ll add some pics in the showroom thread when and if I get it back together!

Pretty bad when there are four Rivs in this picture and NONE of them were drivable when I took the picture!
