| When you come right down to it, Ben, It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks--only what YOU think. We are not going to be spending the next few years with your car. Think about it. Take a lot of time staring at your options. Then go with your gut. | |

| So its been a while...a long while. I got a quote from the vocational school that just painted my roadster. $1200 to $1400 and twice the time they took on the Miata(9 months), so it would be over a year. So I'm settling on just painting the hood the factory color and hold off till I have enough for a quicker paintshop to have it done. I figure whilst in the meantime if I do decide to sell or trade in the Riv for something newer, the purple hood won't detter buyers. But I'm torn. Even though the purple hood was a quick fix and should appear to be, when parked next to a complete/normal Riv, mine seems sportier. So painting the hood may tame my beast, which in a way will be sad. I was hoping the paintjob would have been the same price as the roadster. I should have known better considering the size and price of paint. Yet if I were to go forward, this would have been my new paint. 2004 Thunderbird Vintage Mint BMW Z3 Turquoise I'd go with whichever paint is less costly. I chose the Racera green from my previous Riv to pay homage to the first Rivieras of the late 60's. I chose these new colors to go further back in time to give the car a vintage classic car look to be remeniscent of the Riviera-trimmed Supers. And there's something about a bright green that's good for the soul in the dead of winter. When the sun starts to melt clumps of snow on the car and the green shows through its surreal. | |

| If I ever do another Riv (which I hope to do for my wife) I plan to go with the Mint or Turquoise and a Cream (off-white) top. I have admired your green Riv since I first saw pics of her. | |

| Dave, great minds think alike.
Ideally I wanted to paint the top white or that classic Mother of Pearl off white but to keep costs down I settled on just one whole color.
Beat me to it my friend, I want to see it.
And if anyone may have thought the colors I chose were a bit girly, well that's the point. I want a hot color that will temp the boys and well as the girls when its time to sell. My old Riv found a home with an artsy chic.
Given the age of the car, I hope choosing a more adult color may help retain some value.

| Welcome back! I also think that a green and white two-tone would look pretty nice, but I like the all-green you had before. | |

| I miss the green one. Definitely seller's remorse on that one.
It had more than 157k miles on it but I had less trouble with it than I do with my 70k 'new' one.
I need a new MAF sensor but they're kinda expensive. And still being unemployed, and having 3 cars, I'm hoping to park it as soon as I can and start using the others till I can fix it right.

| BTW, I had a friend who did a Photoshop mock-up of my Riv when I wanted it to be Chevy SSR's Slingshot Yellow. It looked awesome but it wouldn't be for everyone when it's time to sell. And yellow would give people the impression it might have been a car that was beat on by a young person.
Would anyone with great Photoshop skills endulge me with a mock-up of a Riv with the T-bird green/ white roof combo? I don't have the software and I would really appreciate it. I think it may be of some interest to others as well.

| ILAN, I've search the usual suspects and a few places online for an MAF sensor. It ranges from $130-$210, of which includes the core cost.
I've also been hesitant about getting one because some research on the issue resulted in mentioning that it may be other parts but act as if the sensor needs replacing.
I replaced the TPS, and the rumbling stopped. The check engine still came on. I replaced the air filter and found it to be very dirty. It worked perfect after that until now. The light just came on. I mentioned the conditions to my brother in law who is a truck mechanic and he seems to think I've run out of cheap fixes and the issue is the sensor.
sidenote: Ilan, I love that generation of Civic Si's but I can't for the life of me figure out a comfortable was of driving manual. I don't have enough experience. And those only came in manual.

| After seeing the work being done to my roadster, I kinda wish I had taken on another vocation and went into car repair and restoration with a major in paint techniques. I'm in architecture and there's nothing out there for employment. | |
