can we get under the hood pics of that? I'd be glad to post under the hood pics of it, I'll take some tomorrow. It's embarrassing, but I need to clean the wheel wells a bit . I really do keep her clean, but it get's quite greasy under the hood and it's pretty hard to keep everything detailed. Here's my previous daily driver, which I'll never sell: I'm more of a luxury car guy. It just isn't suited best to be a dd.

| Well, I guess our screen names kinda' give it away, but it's still a helluva' coincidence that the car I drove for 12 years before I bought the Riv was an Eldorado just one year newer. That's an '80, probably a 368-6.0, and mine was an '81 with the 368 V8-6-4...
Not super practical, but nowhere near as bad what a pre-'79 would burn! My Riv gets 27 Hwy/16 City, and the Cad got 22 Hwy/12 City.

Just about any legal-to-operate car solid/rolling/norust is probably worth at least $2,500 - $3,000 as transportation, I'd suspect. THey can be had for less though depending on seller circumstances and seller/buyer relationship. Looks nice and I hope you get a good and fair price. Too bad you can't just store it a few more years... Albertj PS: you probably should fix the weatherstripping and other wear/tear items if you can - I can see in oyour pics it's worn/torn in places; and if you can locate a factory radio that would not be bad to reinstall or have on hand. People collecting these cars don't necessarily work on them and so superficial stuff like that turns out to be fairly big turn-offs - since they don't know how to deal with them they discount them a whole lot in reckoning an offer. The aftermarket radio might be a nice clean reversible Crutchfield installation, for instance, or it could be sitting on a rats nest of wires hidden in the dash. A collector who does not work on cars themselves assumes the latter and will walk or low-lowball.

I think all '79 Eldorado's used that engine, but in '80 it was a California engine. It's basically what was found in the 1975-1979 Seville, as well as the 1980 Seville (the hunch-back looking one). I feel lucky to have it, due to the fact not many Eldorado's had that motor, but it's getting pretty tired. I average 11-12 with mine, 13 when everything's happy, but on the highway I've had a good 20. That was before some things had been replaced too. The ultimate cruiser! That's totally awesome that you drove one as well! Seems we have a like taste in cars. Did your's give you any issues? Mine has a new...... almost everything . - albertj wrote:

A collector who does not work on cars themselves assumes the latter and will walk or low-lowball. Thanks for the advice! I would like to keep my stereo anyway (hs graduation present), so replacing it with an original would be great. I could obtain one off ebay for a fairly good price, along with original connectors. If not, it would be super easy to reinstall the original without connectors. The radio it came with was a crummy Sony that ended up failing. The weatherstripping is quite aged, but I didn't even really notice that spot in that picture. It's really bad. I just spend more time in the drivers seat lol. I'll put that on the to-do list. I hate to admit it, but I owe money on it, so I can't keep it and get something else. It doesn't really need much at the moment, but I am always working on it because it's 20 plus years old and stuff breaks . I use it as a daily driver though. It would be the perfect summer or fun weekend car. It's just getting old. The drivetrain is still healthy though. I want to sell because I want something that doesn't hurt my back and because I want something newer.

| Here's an engine bay pic. The paint under the hood just doesn't clean up, so it looks more dirty than it is. Also, there is coolant in the reservoir! It's just cold and parked on a slant and it's hard to see in there. It has a newer short-block. | |

| if you must clean up the paint under the hood -- if you have tried and failed with Gunk (basically kerosene) or an agressive cleaner like Purple Power or Castrol then try Comet or Ajax cleanser, and/or rubbing compound.

| It's not dirty, it's like there's overspray over everything . It's really rough. More powerful cleaners may help a bit, but I don't think much is gonna happen. | |

| robotennis, Carvel can put any pic you want on an ice cream cake, and yeah I'm gonna have my mechanic at my house when the guy comes with the car. Rick, I decided to order it that way. DEMonte, the guy did it himself but it looks well done in my opinion. I hope you aren't confusing the water drops on the lights for bubbles in the tint! Up close you can see through the tint to the headlight stuff inside, but from farther away it looks like this: The heads and tails are tinted, the wheels are the stock ones powder coated black, and the windows are 5% tint except for the front side windows which are 25%. I love the look, and of course that red sticker will be gone once I take ownership.

| It's a Megan Drift-Spec catback which, aside from the Magnaflow, is the only exhaust that sounds good. Otherwise I wouldn't have considered the car. It's nice and deep and doesn't sound ricey at all. Don't let the tip fool ya. | |

| No reason to loose the cat-back, but I'd loose the muffler/tip. There are some out there that will do the same job without the ricer look. Then you can avoid all the jokes about how it must be modeled after your mom's cnt, etc... _________________ | |

| Might be harder than that; the drift-spec is a drift-spec because of how it's angled out from the center to the side of the car, so it wouldn't be easy to find a replacement that'll match the angle. For now though, all the things I would have spent money on down the line like intake, exhaust, audio, are all done for me. | |

| 0-60 takes 7.6 stock, it'll go past 140mph, and gets around 32mpg. | |

| I'd never do more than 85 in the real world anyway so that doesn't matter to me. I never drive in any way that could get me in trouble with police, which is why I don't get nervous around them. I don't have to change my driving habits when I go by a state trooper, unlike everyone else who thinks they'll get a reverse ticket for driving so well and under the limit in the fast lane. | |

| Very smart plan. Stick to it! The police will are on the lookout for cars like yours to give tickets to. Don't expect any form of lenience should you find yourself pulled over. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| I have a police card or two in my wallet with some heavy value to the badge numbers on them. I don't plan on using them unless something happens and I have to rush someone like my girlfriend to a hospital. I'm a mellow driver but I love the feeling and sound(engine load) of acceleration, not crawling to a top speed once it runs out. | |

| The way the Si's gears are arranged, to give the feeling of sound and acceleration at low speeds, you are going to need to shift into 4th gear by 85 mph. Only one more gear left - Honda does this to make up for the lack of torque. Unfortunately, not good for top speed. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| I know it'll have to rev, but Honda engines like to do that. That said, I won't be beating on this car 24/7. | |
