| and you will probally find that the m62 takes maybe a bottle and a bit of GM SC fluid. Holds much less of it than the m90.
(and +1 on the injector O rings, always a good plan) _________________

| Hey, question, when you reinstall the S/C, does it matter what position the lobes are in in relation to the rest of the stuff on/in the engine? | |

| Lobes on the rotors, I thought they might be timed with the engine, but my buddy Corey told me it doesn't matter. | |

| It doesnt matter. there is no way for the motor to know what the position of the rotors are at any give time. _________________ 1996 with 254k miles, L32Â 4" FWI -> ported N* -> Ported Gen V w/3.0" Pulley, Stage 3 Phenolic I/C, ZZP FMHE, 1.84 RR, Headers and 3" pipe to mufflers, F-body brakes, and lowered on Eibachs. -RIP AMG C400 White on black. | I changed my SC oil the other day and I used a whole bottle of GM's oil, which was totally different from gear oil, almost watery, like id heard someone else asking a while back. The old oil was blackish gray and smelled like a mixture of ass, feet, athletes foot, and locker room. I used a glass turkey baster, which turned out to be a bad idea, but it worked pretty good until it broke in the opening and then took 15 minutes to pry out the piece. So next, I used a spray bottle nozzle and tube and stuck the tube in and started pumping and that let me get all of the fluid out, which turned out to be one full bottle. After changing it, it ran alot better, smoother with better response, but I still have to change that coupler out, which GM told me they dont stock for some reason. | |

| The coupler is available through the aftermarket. Try ZZP or Intense Racing. Their internet sites are listed here under vendors. The GM bottle of SC fluid is only 4oz. The supercharger holds 8oz.(two bottles) I recommend checking the level now that you've removed the old and put in some new. You could be very low on fluid. Intense sells a whole kit for the coupler job. It includes the coupler, 8oz. of fluid and the proper GM sealant for the snout. It's actually cheaper to go that route and you'll have everything you need to start and finish the job.
NOTE: I just noticed this an M62. I don't know what the volume of fluid is in that unit. I know the M90 takes 8oz. M62 = ???

| I am about to replace the coupler in mine and will order the kit from Intense in a bit. The car is idling really rough and I hear the rattle of the coupler going along with the rough idle so I believe that the problem may be the coupler itself. Hopefully that is all it is.
This is on my 98. I believe AA answered it earlier in the thread, but I just want to be sure. Do I need to remove the SC on my 98 or can I do the job while leaving it on? Any help would be awesome!

| On your 98 the SC can stay on the car. You will have to loosen and move the Alternator off to the side if I remember correctly. All told, not a difficult job to do.
With 140K miles on your engine, have you ever had the fuel injectors sent out for cleaning and flow matching. It is just around $100.00 including shipping. Could be the source of rough idling as well. Also have you replaced all your vacuum lines recently, again another source of rough idle. And there are all the usual suspects, Spark Plugs and Ignition Wires, MAF cleaning, TB cleaning, etc. Where do you stand with all the preventive maintenance stuff. The reason I bring it up is you may find that after changing the coupler your rough idle may still be there.

| Zep, try removing the supercharger belt, tucking it safely out of the way and running the engine. Does it still idle rough? If yes, it's not the coupler causing the rough idle.
The coupler is an annoying sound, but shouldn't affect performance until it fails.

| I'll work on these things today. I finally have some free time. The vacuum lines haven't been replaced and fuel injectors haven't been messed with. New spark plugs were put in 2k miles ago and new wires 10k miles ago. I may want to think about MAF and TB cleaning too. I'll look at the various write ups first. | |
