| Finally got an Aeroforce Interceptor (my Christmas present this year!) So far I've been playing with this little gadget, and I'm amazed at how much useful potential it has. Simple, yet well designed - compact, yet powerful in function. It's obvious that care was taken to create a solid user interface. Great product, not surprisingly the result of a small American business venture aimed at creating something for the true motoring enthusiast. I love this kind of stuff, and although I found a good deal, I would've paid more for it.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone with OBDII port, new or advanced to the modding game, looking for a scan/data logging tool! _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

There's what looks like redundant parameters for KR and other values in order to support other cars. For our cars, use the first one (the most generic, simple, non-suffixed one) Go on Aeroforce's website and download the PDF manual for your gauge and make sure you get the one that matches your firmware version. It explains everything pretty well.

| A couple things I've noticed about the Aeroforce (vers 3.8 2.8):
1) no trans pressure parameter. I can live without it, but this would be useful for knowing when the car enters limp home mode.
2) can't seem to program the alarm lamps properly. I can get it to respond to one parameter, but not two. Example, for KR, if I program the lamps to illuminate above 1º, it works fine. But the manual says there is an option to use AND/OR logic to control the lamps with two parameters. I can't find any way to select the AND/OR option, nor pick more than one parameter.
Frustrating. Anyone successfully used two parameters to trigger the lamps? _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

Frustrating. Anyone successfully used two parameters to trigger the lamps? When you program the "annunciator", the first thing it prompts you with is { P, P1 AND P2, P1 OR P2} then when you select that, you will go through value and equality for each parameter.

| I don't get the "P, P1 AND P2, P1 OR P2" prompt. It just goes straight to selecting parameters. Yeah that's the same as what I have. I'll double check to make sure my memory isn't just retarded but if that's how it is, I'd contact AF and they may have you send it in for a firmware reflash or some such business. | |

| Crap! I can't check now because I have no harnesses connected under the hood and so the PCM is in retard mode so the gauges don't power up. I won't have that harness in for a few days yet. | |

| I wrote Aeroforce Tech regarding the annunciator function. They said to send in the gauge; they will re-flash. I haven't sent it in yet - one of these days...
One more disappointment - I never saw this one coming until the sun came out yesterday. I have a pair of prescription sunglasses that use polarized lenses. These are good quality shades (Ray-Ban), and when I put them on, the Aeroforce gauge display becomes completely invisible!
Maybe not a deal breaker for everyone, but when I buy a pair of $350 shades, and then a $250 scan gauge, I expect the two products to be compatible! I guess parties on both sides didn't consider this would happen. I think two letters need to be written and sent.
I guess the solution for now is to buy another pair of prescription shades that aren't polarized, used only for driving. Crazy part is, I never wanted to spend so much on the first pair, but I was told polarized were "better", and since health savings account was paying... so, here we go again. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^

| Interesting. I have quality polarized sunglasses and don't have a problem seeing my aeroforce gauge. Try tilting your head. I do have problems seeing my iphone if it's rotated a little. | |

| It does work if I tilt my head, but it requires about 45º of rotation - awkward while driving. I don't have as much trouble with the iPhone. I think it could be the angle of the polarization built into the lens. I think some are made at a certain angle, others might be different?
I've noticed some difficulty at gas pumps, too.

| I am having the hardest time finding a new ashtray assembly for my car and had a brilliant idea. I'll set the old ashtray assembly in there with a scan gauge. And make it look nice. I will have to figure out how I'm going to do that, but first I would like to get an Aeroforce Interceptor, but I would like to know if the Interceptor read mpg. I think I will go ahead and get two with a splitter for asthetic reasons. | |

| Yes, Aeroforce shows MPG in real-time. It also logs a running average, but I've found it to be not that accurate. _________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |

| MPG from the aeroforce is only as accurate as the PCM gives it. In all other GM vehicles I've seen, I have found the PCM's MPG reporting to be 8-10% off. | |

| It's a weird thing. The MPG and HP parameters are calculated from MAF and Injector Duty Cycle, I believe. The PCM supplied this info and the Aeroforce collects and adds it up, averages everything, and comes out with an MPG number. This is fairly accurate as an instantaneous MPG indicator - it tells you how much fuel is being burned "right now". It can even be dialed in to match HP from a dyno run, which in theory matches MPG because the gauge knows how much air/fuel it takes to create a specific amount of HP, or something like that. The Aeroforce also keeps a running average of MPG over time, I assume by collecting every real-time MPG reading, adding them up, and dividing for the average. This number is accessed in the menu, not displayed as a reading. What I found was, my average MPG was higher than my measured pump log MPG by a couple MPG. A couple MPG is way off when talking average fuel economy over time. It needs to be within .1 MPG. So I tried to adjust the HP up/down to move the number in the right direction, but it didn't respond the way I thought it would. What I found was, in order for the gauge average to be anywhere near correct, it caused my real-time MPG and HP calculations to be way inaccurate (low). I decided to adjust HP to match closely with my dyno run, and a long distance MPG study I did a while back. I cruised at exactly the same speed over 120 miles, recording 26 MPH. Cruising at the same speed over flat ground in good conditions, I dialed in the HP adjustment until the MPG displayed 26 MPG. That works for me. For average MPG, I don't trust the gauge - I rely on my pump records for that. DTE: It sort of has a distance till empty feature: https://rivperformance.editboard.com/t9079p15-low-fuel-lamp-how-many-gallons-left-when-light-goes-on_________________ '05 GTO 6.0L • 6-spd • 95k miles • 0-60: 4.8s • 16.9 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:26'95 Celica GT 2.2L • 5-spd • 165k miles • 0-60: yes'98 SC Riviera • 281k miles • 298 HP/370 TQ • 0-60: 5.79s • ET: 13.97 @ 99.28 • 4087 lb • 20.1 avg MPG • Nelson Ledges Lap: 1:30 3.4" pulley • AL104 plugs • 180º t-stat • FWI w/K&N • 1.9:1 rockers • OR pushrods • LS6 valve springs • SLP headers • ZZP fuel rails KYB GR2 struts • MaxAir shocks • Addco sway bars • UMI bushings • GM STB • Enkei 18" EV5s w/ Dunlop DZ101s • F-body calipers EBC bluestuff/Hawk HP plus • SS lines • Brembo slotted discs • DHP tuned • Aeroforce • Hidden Hitch^^^ SOLD ^^^ '70 Ninety-Eight Holiday Coupe 455cid • 116k miles^^^ SOLD ^^^ | |
