Most utility vehicles are two wheel drive which means RWD. RWD = horrible in snow and rain. Even if it's 4 x 4 that doesn't guarantee traction and they have more momentum and mass to stop in that snow. I've seen people in Jeeps and all the like when it snows here all crashing off the road because they think they're invincible in their big UV. The select few who really do need a UV live out in the plains or in the west up in the mountains. Even at that, you could just jack up a car and put big wheels on it and it could off-road...

| Yeah, I done said it. UV's don't do the best in snow because of all their weight. If you drive slow they're fine but most people with them don't and they don't stop very well normally and especially not in the snow. More mass is harder to stop vs less mass - basic physics... | |

| Gentlemen, please! These are FRIENDLY boards!
And to answer the question, I don't think it changed the sound TOO much, but it did sound a little throatier. That might have been because of the 3" DP, though.

| looking good, Ben. Shintsu, tone it down a bit. Every one of your posts since you've joined has either been a put down or some sarcastic impertinent negative comment. This isn't club gp. I'm not the only one you're bothering.

| Never been to Club GP but I can imagine a lot more A-Holes. GP drivers seem to be more like that. I'm not trying to offend anyone until someone says something to me. I never implied the tips looked bad, I merely used the chance to state my thoughts on it. I'm a perfectionist, I am so picky about tips that's why I still have the stock ones on there. | |

| The Hogan pipe IS a "bolt-on"... HOWEVER (and this is a BIG however) the bolts holding the DP to the catalytic converter were all but rusted away - they needed to be cut off, and new studs made. This was done at an exhaust shop. Also, the non-corroded bolts holding the DP to the rear manifold was frozen on there so bad, the guy's most powerful air wrench wouldn't budge it, and it had to be heated up with a torch to "red-hot" to turn them off. They didn't break, but still - that's a lot of trouble to get that stock downpipe off there.
If you are going headers, then forget downpipe, because that comes with header kits. I can't recommend the p-log due to quality control issues over at ZZP with that particular product. I know there are certain allegiances to ZZP, and certainly I'm one of them - but as far as the p-log goes, it was a great idea but somewhere on the production line something is being skimped. I don't know what the current state of that product is, however.
And again, thanks for the compliments on the tips - they do look great, aside from the welds, which I suppose is normal. They are stainless, so at least the tips won't get any worse. I just want this crap weather to go away!

| Hmm.. not sure if I like them. To me the squareness of them sets off the round shape of Riv, which is why I got my Ractiv tips. Hey, as long as you like them. What brand are they? They look a little familiar. And keep them chrome, lol.
Can you get a shot of them a little further back? I'd like to see them from a distance.

I bought one recently. it is the updated version and i can say it looks to be a decent product. How long it will hold up in my car is to be seen , but i dont think its that bad of a product .

| they are not crooked! its just the upsweep of the rear bumper lower trim that gives the tips the illusion of being crooked. | |

| albertj, here is the response to your question, in case you missed it: - Quote :

In addition, I'd like to add that the car still sounds very quiet with normal acceleration. My Regal (may it rest in pieces) was very loud and I couldn't hear the music in my car very well with the windows down. So I had to choose, windows down, or music on - which sucks in the warmer months. I digress... I actually enjoy the "whisper" quiet sound of the exhaust. It's 3" DP'ed, but still stock cat and resonator. No U-bend, so it flows well for my purposes. I don't think I'm going to take my car much farther than this as far as performance is considered. I really don't want to tarnish the luxury aspect of the car, it's beautiful - I don't want a muscle-car sound. nothincame2mind, my dad chose the tips and the brand, so I can't say. For some reason, I'm enjoying the squared pipes because it brings a tad more attention to them. It doesn't 100% with the flow of the car, but I'm still very happy. I'll get another shot of the pipes from farther back today, and have the pic up tonight. Robotennis61, you're right - the shape of the bumper gives the appearance of a crooked pipe. At first when I saw them, I was upset, but then I got down to the ground and realized they were straight as an arrow parallel to the ground. Even though the look may not be perfect, at least they're straight, relatively speaking.

| Also, here's what my exhaust used to look like, a while back: I painted the mufflers and pipes with high-heat ceramic aluminum paint, after grinding off all the crap (rust, debris). Notice that the right pipe is (truly) crooked. I had them straighten it before they put the new tips on. | |

| I was told the tips were stainless steel. I'll have to check on them and make sure they aren't just chrome... my dad likes to skimp on price sometimes, so I better check to make sure. | |
